Meet Trang. She is our linen designer, Vietnamese, and lives in Hoi An. She is like a sunny flower, bright with uplifting energy and fun.
Here is the story of how she fell in love with linen.
How the Story of a linen designer began:
She studied tourism and worked in the tourism industry for a while. Then she met a Spanish fashion designer who hired her to take care of the showroom and sell clothing.
The shop originated in Hanoi, and the showroom is in Hoi An. This event happened in 2015. She got inspired by elegant and simple designs in beautiful everyday dresses. She went with the designer to the fabric store where she first encountered linen.
She started designing and making her clothes from linen. Trang loves the concept of minimal and straightforward dresses in plain colors. She says: ‘I don’t like to go to shops; I prefer to design my clothes.’ In 2017, she started with the linen concept and made some samples. She displayed her designs at several other shops and coffee places. People got to know her and started buying her clothing. She wanted to do something different and unique.
People worldwide fell in love with her designs and linen clothing. She first shared the shop with other entrepreneurs, but they focused more on their other business food the day after LiMe was born.
Why do you like linen fabric?
I like linen because it’s a natural fabric. I think wearing natural fibers is comfortable and good for your well-being. Not only is linen a great fabric to wear, but it's also special. Linen requires less water than cotton, and it's completely biodegradable. The feel of the material makes me feel connected to nature.
I love to be outdoors in nature. Linen fabric gets softer every time you wash it; it feels nice on your skin. The more I wear it, the more I like it. I like how simple designs go well with linen. It has a minimal look and is easily combined with other clothing items.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to go out in nature being outside. Spending time outdoors is important for us as human beings. It makes our life so much better. Bike rides in the green rice fields are my favorite, I also like to camp. You can read about my camping adventures in this blog. I'm very lucky to live in a country where there is so much nature around me. After spending time in nature, I feel recharged and uplifted. Especially when you have your own business, it's important to keep that balance between working and free time. On the weekends, I love to camp and go to the beach. At home, I like to listen to music and journal. I write down my thoughts on paper. I'm thinking about many different things putting them on paper helps to clear my head. What are your values?
My values are family and living with a passion for everyday life. Sometimes we look for big events that make us happy, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, but I think beauty can be found in everyday life's small things. That's powerful. Spend time with beloved friends, friends that value you for who you are and bring up the best in you. I love to have a cup of coffee with my friends or a cozy dinner. Business-wise, when I do something with love, I don’t overthink about success because I always have a plan B. I relax and do my best.
